What Is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback peak performance
Neurofeedback (Bio-Feedback or Brain Training) is definitely an EEG/computer system that literally retrains your brain to function much better.

If you, a loved one, or someone beneath your care is suffering because their brain is not working properly, or since they're in pain, or overwhelmed with emotional issues, then you can be surprised or even impressed by the benefits of Neurofeedback!

Neurofeedback is a innovative technology and offers hope for many devastating brain disorders such as: brain injury, pain management, learning disabilities, mental disorders, substance abuse and other central nervous system disorders.

Neurofeedback can benefit in the following areas: Cognitive Functioning-memory, attention, concentration, learning, creativity, reading, organizing and sequencing, Motivation-initiating and completing activities; Motor Skills-coordination, balance grace and recovery from paralysis; Mood Improvement - anxiety, depression, irritability and explosiveness; Sleep Regulation-improved evening sleep and increased daytime alertness; Brain Spiking-reduction in seizures and tic symptoms; Pain Management-reduction in migraines, fibromyalgia symptoms, restless leg syndrome and other body pains; last but not least an overall increase in energy, stamina and peak performance.

Neurofeedback is kind of like properly retiming an internal combustion engine whose cylinders are not firing at the perfect time. When this occurs the engine looses power and can even be damaged as the cylinders are not employed in harmony to turn the crankshaft and may actually work against the other person. Similarly, when cognitive abilities are not firing properly and brain systems aren't in harmony, the brain looses power and develops inefficient and damaging patterns. These faulty patterns can be locked in (suppressed) and become permanent, unless your brain is retrained to release these blockages and adopt new patterns so that it can function at maximum power and efficiency.

Neurofeedback is a brainwave system certified by the FDA that provides non-invasive feedback for the brain. This is achieved using a computer program that reads records and analyzes brain waves (patterns) via small sensors put on the scalp.

The overall goals of Neurofeedback will be to significantly improve the functionality of the entire Central Nervous System, reduce and sometimes eliminate crippling signs of CNS disorders, and increase the flexibility, clarity, focus and efficiency from the brain. It accomplishes this all by using various scientific protocols to coach the brain to discard its unhealthy patterns that may and do cause many devastating disorders. Neurofeedback then retrains the mind to adopt new, healthier patterns that permit the brain to function much better, and the person being more of who they really are.

It's been traditionally thought that our minds were fully molded and altered little after reaching adulthood. However, recent neuroscience research indicates that the human brain is within a "plastic" state and may change with life experience and training including neurofeedback. Specifically, the brain can perform rerouting through its trillions of connections to be able to learn new information also to bypass damaged or suppressed areas. Furthermore, studies indicate that it can (in certain parts of the brain) even grow new brain cells and their connecting trunks called axons. Retraining and challenging your brain in most cases improves brain abnormalities such as over- arousal, under-arousal, and instability. The real cause of the above abnormalities is the brains inability to control and regulate itself.
